Our IT Pros Community Night had its kick off yesterday with the launch of Windows 7

I delivered an interactive presentation on how Windows 7 will help us improve productivity by giving us instant access to information, providing us the tools to securely support our day to day activities, protect our data, and take advantage of virtualization.

We explored key Windows 7 product features, deployment, security, management, and productivity. Had a look at the evolution of features that come along with Windows Server 2008 R2 like Group Policy, DirectAccess (check the clip below), BranchCache (check the clip below), and data security features like AppLocker  and BitLocker To Go

Since the audience showed interest in knowing more into the Kernel Changes in Windows 7 and Server 2008 R2, we dug into DLL Refactoring, API Sets, Mapping Virtual DLLs to Logical DLLs, trigger-started services, architectural changes, and of course MinWin

We went over the power efficiency improvements with core parking and timer coalescing as well as scalability improvements with the removal of the global scheduler lock, support for more than 64 logical processors, and user mode scheduling.

It was one great kick off for our IT Pros in Lebanon “Min 3inna”
